Frequently asked questions(FAQ)
What are the BMW service intervals?
BMW introduced the Conditional Based Service (CBS) in 2002. The CBS was designed to provide a flexible maintenance schedule for your vehicle. Using a range of light system icons, you can check the status and remaining serviceable life of all components supported by CBS. This will help you quickly identify which items require attention:
- Green: means no service is required;
- Yellow: means that the component must be serviced soon;
- Red: means the service deadline has passed.
The intelligent maintenance system(CBS) will notify you for four weeks when a service is due.
How often should I change the oil in my BMW?
According to the BMW Owner’s Manuals, you should change the oil every 15,000 miles. The BMW warning lights on the dashboard will remind the driver when to change the oil.
Do BMWs come with service books?
All new BMWs have Digital Service History records. No more service books; the service history can’t be lost or falsified. After completing a BMW service, the Digital Service History will be updated via the approved BMW digital account, directly linked to the BMW Germany HQ database. The service information will also be updated on your vehicle – you’ll find it under Service History in the onscreen menu(iDrive).
How do I access my BMW iDrive service history?
Where to find the iDrive Service History information? To access the iDrive Service History menu, you must go to the Service Requirements page. You should then see the Service History right there, at the top of the list.
How expensive is an oil change for a BMW?
It is impossible to give a correct price, because it depends on the model, the manufacture year, the type of oil needed and, last but not least, the price of the worn parts detected by the inspection that need to be replaced. To get the right price for your car, call us on 0208 346 6755 or fill in the form to request a free quote!
What brand of oil does BMW use?
Formulations for BMW-branded lubricants are based upon Castrol Edge a top full synthetic brand that has been strengthened by Fluid Titanium Technology. This technology increases film strength, reduces friction and improves lubrication.
